rlwrap install on SUSE Linux




rlwrap install

rpm -ivh glibc-2.17-3.1.x86_64.rpm

imdbhdb:~/DOWNLOADS/rlwrap-0.37 # ./configure –enable-64bit –build x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu

SLES 11 = SUSE Linux Enterprise Server v11

yast2 -i gcc-c++ Will install gcc

imdbhdb:~/DOWNLOADS/rlwrap-0.37/.configure –enable-64bit –build x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu stills errors out with You need the GNU readline library(ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/readline/ ) to build this program!


zypper install readline-devel

rlwrap-0.37/.configure –enable-64bit –build x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu works now


make check

make install

rlwrap uses the up/down arrow keys for history by default but, if you want vi command line editing:

Also, Instead of using set -o vi you add ‘set editing-mode vi’ to you $HOME/.inputrc file you have vi-keybinding-loveless

export INPUTRC=~/.inputrc

Also, see the global config file /etc/inputrc

in all applications that support readline. You can also set this to system wide by added this to /etc/inputrc.

rlwrap hdbsql -c “;” -m -i 00 -n -u SYSTEM -p manager

Note: Should be able to do the same thing for other flavors of UNIX/Linux that do not have ied(ied is on HP-UX).

If you get a missing library error you probable need to run ldconfig.
